Mill Pond 6th Grade “Shark Tank” Event!

Students in Ms. Garrett and Ms. Vita’s 6th grade classes at Mill Pond have been learning about businesses, mission statements, action plans, meetings, decision-making, business emails, advertisements, marketing, customer success, planning, and finally, philanthropy. One component of this project is a “Mill Pond Shark Tank.” The Shark Tank was a three day event that gathered successful career professionals (Moms, Dads, School Staff, and even Principal Guellnitz!) to generate investments for these fledgling entrepreneurs. Students were tasked with writing and presenting their pitch and products as a company to the SHARKS! Students were asked to not only apply their academic skills, but they were tasked to draw on their critical thinking, problem-solving, listening and speaking, and creativity. Leadership within each company (business reps) and Make the World a Better Place student managers drove the student entrepreneurs. Really amazing work by these 6th grade students which will culminate in a Business Expo in June where they will sell their goods with all profits going to charity!
