Westborough’s first annual Holiday Stroll, ending with the traditional annual visit from Santa Claus and the tree lighting, was a big hit for hundreds of Westborough residents and families last weekend! The Holiday Stroll was sponsored by the Westborough Recreation Department, Economic Development Committee and the Westborough Rotary. It was a joint effort between those groups and other town departments (DPW, Fire, Police, Library) who worked collaboratively to help pull the evening of fun together for the residents of Westborough.
The afternoon began at the Public Library with a holiday reading by Mrs. Claus coupled with some fun holiday crafts. With West Main Street shut down to traffic, people enjoyed “A Taste of Westborough,” organized by the Westborough Economic Development Committee where they could visit local shop-owners and businesses for food, crafts and activities for all ages, including video caroling at Westborough TV. The crowd was entertained with live music from local band SNG. (Watch another clip of caroling here. And finally one more caroling clip here.)
Another highlight of the evening was the Festival of Lights Parade sponsored by the Westborough Recreation Department which showcased community groups, music, and fun with a light parade around the rotary.
Finally, just in time for the holiday season, the Westborough Rotary Club lit up the rotary and the downtown area with lights and welcomed Santa Claus as their special guest.
After the success of this year’s event, planning has already begun for next year’s Holiday Stroll, beginning a new community tradition here in Westborough.
