Dementia Live Training at Westborough Fire Dept

For the past several weeks, Right at Home has been training members of the Westborough Fire Department in Dementia Live. First responders have a unique role in supporting Westborough’s residents with dementia. It can be challenging to effectively manage a situation that involves someone who suffers from this disease.

Through Dementia Live, participants find out what it’s like to live with a condition that’s characterized by impairment of judgment; compromised orientation to time and place; limited ability to filter emotional responses; aggression due to pain, confusion and fear; and more. As a certified Dementia Live agency, Westborough-based Right at Home led this unique training for the Westborough Fire Department team. to provide each participant with a hands-on experience to educate them about the challenges and struggles of a person living with dementia.
