Westborough High School baseball (5-3) in its 3-0 win over St. John’s (Shrewsbury) in the 10th annual Greg Montalbano Classic on Saturday.
Montalbano was a Westborough native who played baseball at St. John’s (Shrewsbury), who went on to play at Division I Northeastern. He played minor league baseball within the Boston Red Sox organization and passed away in 2009 due to cancer.
“We’ve been honored to be a part of this game for a decade now,” Westborough coach Scott Kittredge said. “Today was a sharp high school baseball game between two very good programs. We are happy to come out on top.”
Senior Quinn Donovan ripped a two-run double in the sixth inning and later came around to score for the Rangers in the win.
The team also went on to play Fitchburg, bringing their record to 7-3.
