Town voters are being asked at the 3/7 town election and again at Town Meeting on 3/18 whether the town should prohibit recreational marijuana retail businesses and facilities. A group of concerned Westborough citizens held this information session entitled “Commercializing Pot: The Big Tobacco of the 21st Century” to share what they’ve learned about the impacts of commercialized marijuana on kids and communities. Watch the full presentation here.
The group shared a short film on industrial tactics for growing addiction-for-profit industries, reviewed the 21st Century science regarding 21st Century marijuana, heard from a Colorado Mother of four who left her former state after marijuana was commercialized there by a similar industry-authored ballot question, reviewed the 2016 MA Marijuana Act, and considered the best option currently available for maintaining some local control regarding this drug in Westborough.
