Eli Whitney – The Life & Times of an Inventor

In honor of Westborough’s 300th Celebration, the Historical Society took a closer look at one of Westborough’s more famous individuals – Eli Whitney. On Monday evening, March 27, 2017, the society’s president, Cary Mulrain, gave a presentation on Whitney to a large group of residents gathered at the 1717 Shoppe. The discussion focused on how Eli Whitney helped shape the modern industrial world through his cotton gin invention and as a champion of the “interchangeable parts” mode of production.
