In a very special ceremony held Monday, Nov 9th, 2015, Armstrong Elementary School students and staff honored Veterans. The event included 15 veterans who are family members of students or staff at Armstrong School receiving medals from students. During the hour long program, the students, staff and veterans were treated to performances by the Worcester Police Color Guard, the Star Spangled Banner sung by WHS student Julia Marcus, Taps featuring WHS student Kerry Larkin on trumpet, and songs and performances by all Armstrong students. Regional Veterans District Director Adam Costello was presented with dozens of cards by parent Kelley Petralia, made with care by Armstrong students for Veterans that he will distribute to Veterans overseas.
In this clip, WHS student Kerry Larkin performs Taps with the Worcester Police Color Guard and veteran Sean Brosnihan, a Marine whose children attend Armstrong School, talks about how meaningful this ceremony is to him, his family and all the veterans in attendance.
